What Does Detox Mean?
It never fails. Every time I see extended family members, someone rubs my belly and says with excitement, “Awwww, you’re having another one?!” I’m so accustomed to hearing that now that I’m not embarrassed by it anymore. At first, I would just turn red and respond, “No, its baby fat.” Well, my “baby” is turning 3 in the next few months so…ummm…can’t claim it as baby fat anymore!
The truth of the matter is, I need to “Spring Clean” my body by detoxing. But what does detox mean? What will it do for me? Exactly how do I detox? After reading Dr. Mark Hyman’s book, The Blood Sugar Solution 10-Day Detox Diet, I’ve realized that a lot of the foods I thought were healthy, aren’t. I’m a carb person. Pastas and breads are my absolute weakness. But let’s just be real, those succulent foods are turning into sugar in my body. Not good.
I’m grateful that I don’t have High Blood Pressure although most people in my family do. And I’m thankful that I don’t have diabetes. However, there’s a very thin line between where I am and where I could be. I have a rule that if I eat healthy 80% of the time, then I’m likely to stay out of my doctors office except for the occasional check-up. Then why is this belly fat not budging? Why do I feel so heavy and have stomach pain at night? I had to face the fact that the reason for my belly bulge is not the hernia that I acquired from the birth of my last child. It’s due to the beautiful, tasty, delicious, but toxic CARBS and MEATS.
Detoxing is like hitting a reset button. (Let’s pause and thank God for a reset button.) You can rid your body of a lot of the toxins, which do eventually cause conditions and/or disease by the way, and start introducing good foods to the body. Your body will thank you and you will notice the difference.

Here are a few of the myths that Dr. Hyman explains in his book that I personally have believed for years:
MYTH: You can be healthy if you are overweight.
MYTH: You have to be “ready” to succeed at weight loss
MYTH: Don’t lose weight too fast or you will rebound and gain it all back
Are you kidding me? So these aren’t true statements? (Dumbfounded look)
The full details are in the 10-Day Detox Diet book, which I highly recommend because I can’t give the full details of the detox in this blog. It even includes delicious looking recipes, which have affordable ingredients, and the full breakdown on the reasons we haven’t been able to lose weight or keep it off. So I’m looking forward to losing this “baby fat” once and for all and feed my body the way God intended – naturally.
Next, I will tell you how we will detox so be sure to leave your email address to receive it in your inbox. I look forward to supporting one another!
