Eat, Sleep, Breathe – God
Meditating on the Word
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 ESV
We often make our own lives complicated with disappointments, frustrations, and consequences. The reason is because we have a missing puzzle piece. God. Sure we may acknowledge Him regularly and pray occasionally and attend church when we have the opportunity and all of those good things. What I had to stop and realize today is that my misery is caused by my mediocre relationship with Christ. My whole heart isn’t in it. I’m not eating, sleeping and breathing God’s word. Joshua 1:8 says:
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8 ESV
Are we really housing God’s word in our hearts? I’m challenging myself to bring God off the back burner and truly meditate in His word and see the difference it brings to my life. I feel it will bring better clarity when making everyday decisions, clear direction, better understanding of the things going on in my life and our society and a deep joy and comfort in the unknown. Anyone willing to take this challenge with me? Let’s pray for one another as we deepen our relationships with Christ.
