How to Detox Your Body Naturally
My 10-Day Detox Schedule
Ok, so now that I realize my “baby fat” is really a collection of fat cells feasting on toxins that have entered my body, let’s discuss how to detox the body naturally. This detox can last anywhere from 10 days to 90+ days. I prefer at least 10 days. But after the detox, I will continue to introduce myself to cleaner, healthier options whether preparing food at home or eating out. I want to make clean-eating our family’s lifestyle rather than a temporary phase.
My kitchen had to have a quick detox first. I got rid of the enriched white flour, the hormone and genetically modified meats and anything in between. Fortunately it was time to grocery shop anyway so I wasn’t loaded up on russet potatoes and pasta noodles like I would normally be.
I chose only USDA Organic, Non-GMO, and hormone-free foods and replaced sugar with natural sweetness like coconut palm sugar and honey (still be careful with these especially if you are trying to reverse diabetes). It has been a process looking for new staple food products because I have to try them first, then decide if it’s something my family would like. I refuse to let my family try something new until I’ve tried it first because I don’t want a bad first impression of any food to be their final assessment of that particular food. That could ruin their whole perception of eating clean and I just can’t take that chance – not even with my 2-yr-old. Once I find the perfect alternatives and it has also passed the “Freeman Family Test”, then mission accomplished!
Now, of course there aren’t any sugary drinks or foods whatsoever during the detox. I only drink filtered water and eat clean foods. I don’t eat after dinner until 12 hours later when it’s time for breakfast. And honestly, I haven’t been hungry after-hours anyway.
Food & Meal Schedule
This is basically my detox meal schedule on a daily basis:
Lemon Juice & Cayenne Pepper Natural Elixir
Upon rising in the morning, after drinking a glass of filtered water, I drink an energizing drink with lemon juice and non-irradiated cayenne pepper. The reason is because lemon smooths digestion and help alkalize the body. The cayenne pepper contains an antioxidant that treats many ailments and stimulates the digestive system and soothes digestive issues.
This natural elixir not only aids digestion but stimulates the liver, boosts immunity and energy, lowers blood pressure, fights cancer and viruses, prevents blood clots, relieves pain and it also benefits the skin. It also replenishes the body with electrolytes. (*Drink through a glass straw to protect teeth from acidic lemon)
Breakfast – Green juice with Kyäni Sunrise then a meal like Deliciously Healthy French Toast
Now that my body is prepared to receive nutrients after my Lemon & Cayenne detox elixir, I drink about 6-8oz of green vegetables mixed with a small amount of fruit to sweeten it and 1oz Kyäni Sunrise super-food pouch. Then I have a healthy and clean breakfast!
Anything simple like fruit, nuts, or even a slice of toasted Ezekiel 4:9 bread topped with almond butter. Yum! Now just to give you a little background on Ezekiel 4:9 bread, it’s named after the scripture because it is made from the ingredients in that scripture. If you ever wanted to know how bread tasted before people started commercializing it and adding chemicals to it, Ezekiel 4:9 bread is it!
Something quick and easy like a fruit or vegetable salad or Chicken and Veggie Medley
I prepare dinner for the entire household so I make something that we can all enjoy or I make a variation for myself. For example, if I make spaghetti, I use organic noodles (or use a spiral slicer to make zucchini pasta) but put some aside for myself before adding the spaghetti sauce for everyone else. I may add Extra Virgin Olive Oil and fresh lemon juice to it and sauteed veggies for myself. I also take Kyäni Sunset at dinner for Omega-3, Tocotrienols, Beta Carotene and Vitamin D.
First of all, I feel GOOD! And I haven’t incorporated exercise yet. Previously I would have stomach pain at night but all of the discomfort, heaviness and pain has gone away. Another major difference I have noticed is how I feel satisfied after eating each meal rather than feeling “stuffed” and sluggish. I’ve been eating the same amount – just clean versions of food, and the differences in how I feel are very noticeable. Although my goal never was to lose weight, I dropped pound after pound quickly in the first 7 days of my detox. Now obviously, if I were to go back to eating anything that crossed my face, sure I would gain it all back, but because the goal is to permanently change the ingredients in the foods my family and I love, I don’t have to worry about gaining weight afterward.
When I’m not putting unhealthy fats into my body, then I don’t have to worry about fat showing up on my body.
And when our family does have our moments of completely toxic and unhealthy but incredibly delicious foods (because we will once every blue moon), we know how to flush those toxins out of our bodies to keep our digestive systems on track.
I truly believe that most people who start a “diet” to lose weight, eventually get discouraged because they either don’t lose the weight or they gain it back because the diet didn’t include education on how to eat healthy long-term. But be encouraged because Balance My Being is here to outline every natural alternative possible to help you eat organic, GMO and gluten free (if you wish) without compromising good, hearty food. Sure, there are detox products out there, but our goal is to educate you on how to detox your body naturally while also learning how to invite less toxins into your body – which eliminates sickness and weight gain.
